Terms of Service

Effective Date: October 11, 2026 | Last Updated: October 11, 2026

Campus Community Agreement:

Oryn is designed to empower the IIITDM campus community with privacy-first academic automation, event broadcasting, and mutual student assistance. By using Oryn, you agree to treat campus peers with respect, post truthful community information, and comply with all academic guidelines.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Oryn mobile application, website, or associated services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use Oryn.

2. Eligibility & Campus Access

Oryn is primarily intended for students, faculty, researchers, administrative personnel, and authorized affiliates of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM). You represent that you are authorized to use institute communication channels and that your use of the Platform complies with all applicable institutional rules and regulations.

3. Description of Platform Services

Oryn provides an integrated campus awareness and productivity suite, including:

  • On-Device Email Parsing: Client-side parsing and classification of institute emails into academic, mess, hostel, placement, and event streams.
  • Academic Timetable & Room Locator: Real-time course slot tracking (Slots A through H), faculty assignments, lecture venue allocations, and campus building navigation aids.
  • Smart Mess Menus: Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner schedules, meal timing countdowns, and dietary highlights.
  • Campus Lost & Found: A peer-to-peer directory allowing students to report lost personal belongings, post found items, and coordinate returns.
  • Creator Studio & Event Broadcasts: Tools for authorized campus bodies, student clubs, and technical societies to broadcast official notices, cultural festivities, hackathons, and registration portals.
  • Over-The-Air (OTA) Updates & Widgets: Differential code updates and native home screen widgets for fast, glanceable access.

4. User Accounts & Authentication

Access to Oryn requires authenticating with a valid Google Account. Authentication occurs directly with Google via OAuth 2.0 PKCE protocol. You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your device and login credentials.
  • All activities that occur under your session or account.
  • Promptly reporting any unauthorized use or security vulnerability to Oryn administrators.

5. Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use

You agree to use Oryn solely for lawful, constructive, and campus-related purposes. You agree NOT to:

  • Falsify Community Posts: Submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or malicious listings in the Lost & Found directory or Creator Studio.
  • Harassment & Doxxing: Post unauthorized personal contact information, phone numbers, or private media belonging to third parties without their explicit consent.
  • Prohibited Content: Post obscene, abusive, defamatory, hateful, or commercial spam content.
  • System Tampering: Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or disassemble the application runtime, or bypass Over-The-Air cryptographic checksum validations.
  • API Misuse: Attempt unauthorized access, denial-of-service attacks, automated scraping, or traffic flooding against Oryn servers or backend APIs (api.cruxel.xyz).

6. User-Generated Content License

When you submit content to Oryn—including descriptions, photographs, room numbers, or contact information for Lost & Found listings, or event announcements in Creator Studio:

  • You retain all ownership rights in the content you create.
  • You grant Oryn a non-exclusive, royalty-free, campus-wide license to host, display, index, and transmit your posted content solely for the purpose of operating the relevant campus feature.
  • You can delete or mark your Lost & Found listings as resolved at any time. Oryn reserves the right to remove any post that violates these Terms or institute codes of conduct.

7. Over-The-Air (OTA) Updates & Push Alerts

To ensure optimal stability, security patches, and instant timetable corrections:

  • Automated Code Updates: The app periodically downloads and executes differential code bundles and assets from our verified update servers. By using the app, you consent to these background and foreground updates.
  • Push Notifications: The app may register push notification tokens to deliver critical academic alerts, class venue shifts, Lost & Found claims, or event reminders. You may configure or disable notifications at any time in device system settings.

8. Academic & Institutional Disclaimers

8.1 Convenience Tool: Oryn is an independent student platform built for campus convenience. While every effort is made to maintain complete accuracy through automated parsing and administrative portal sync, official institute notices, circulars, department announcements, and instructor communications always supersede app representations.

8.2 "AS IS" Warranty Disclaimer: The Platform is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular academic purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Oryn, its maintainers, developers, student contributors, or institute affiliates be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages—including but not limited to missed academic deadlines, unrecovered lost property, timetable discrepancies, exam schedule misunderstandings, or loss of device data—arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Platform.

10. Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right, without prior notice, to suspend or terminate your access to Oryn or remove user-submitted content if you violate these Terms, engage in disruptive or fraudulent campus activity, or if required to comply with institute disciplinary directives or applicable law.

11. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect new platform capabilities, legal requirements, or campus guidelines. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Oryn after modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
